I have some interesting news. Despite the fact this watch was supposed to be just rated for 500 meters. They wanted to test the watch to see what it would really hold up to.

Well they still don't know.... because the tester they have only goes up to 1000 meters and they say the watch is not even breaking a sweat. This really got Chris and the gang wondering just how much this can take.

So I here there are now plans to send one to Switzerland. To a facility that can test it up to 10,000 meters. Which should be enough to get the job done I would think.

I thought this would be the perfect excuse for a contest. Guess the depth at which the watch will fail. The closest guess wins. So I have suggested this to Chris. =)

I'm going to guess 1600m (which is just a smidge under a mile)

I will say 6500 meters because Lum Tec makes such a stellar product.

Hold up guys. We are not having a contest yet. It was just a suggestion to Chris. I think it will happen though but maybe not rite away due to the fact that the test will not take place for a few months.

We thought it was approved and ready to go, you made us reveal our hand before the contest.

A contest would be nice, but I think it's just fun to guess. ;-)

I am pretty sure there will be one as Chris really likes the idea. The question at this point is more of a when. As the testing is a few months off it may be a lil soon. But my thought is we could open it up for 60 days. They close down entries and wait maybe another 30 days or less for the results. What do you all think of that idea?

I'd suggest a shorter timeframe. Maybe 2-4 weeks for entries, and it should end no more than a week before they get the results. Or, depending on how long the process takes, maybe open up the contest on the day Chris ships, and close it the day before they get the results (assuming that this period is at least two weeks)

Personally, as long as my prize has a ducky & kitty on it, I don't care what it is! ;-)

I'll take 1590 meters.

Imagine if you could send one to the guys working the Remote Operated Vehicles a mile down in the Gulf at the wellhead blowout. They are always streaming video, you could just have them strap it to one the tool arms. If it held up it would look cool as *.
