NEW 1000M Diver coming this fall from JS Watch co. Reykjavik

Postby Sigurdur JS Founder on Wed Jul 29, 2009 3:07 pm

Hi everyone,

I decided to make a new topic about this up-coming watch, and move the discussions about it from another topic to this one :)

We were hoping to be able to talk more about this new watch in April. But actually we have taken longer to finish all designs and preparations on this new diver than we anticipated in the beginning, and I belive that has lead us to a greater end result :) But now I am prepared to show you all a sneak peak at the first sample of the dial for our new diver.

Image

We also have other color combinations planed. They will all have the numbers on the dial, the watch is in fact a total redesign from a previous concept we have posted drawings of on this forum before. One more thing I can tell you all now, this watch will not have a rotating bezel. It will have more of an old school military look and feel to it.

In my opinion diver watches tend to be very much alike and we did not want to make just another diver that is almost identical to all the other divers out there. For this reason we decided to go in a different direction with ours :)

I hope to be able to give more details soon since we now aim to unveil this watch this Fall :)
Best Regards,
Sigurdur

I asked about the specs for those that are wondering.

"We will be using our highly decorated ETA 2824-2 Top/Chronometer movements in the 1000M diver, but no display back since this one needs to be built like a submarine :) 40mm in diameter and no rotating bezel. It will have more of an old school military look and feel to it."

Sigurdur:

How can it be a dive watch and not have a rotating bezel? Will there be some other mechanism for telling elapsed time?

Robert

Hi Robert,

Our intent for this watch is to be an all around service watch, whether you are a diver, bomb squad member, pilot, rescue swimmer or just about anything else that requires an extremely robust watch, then this watch is for you. So by limiting it and calling it a diver might not be right term to describe this watch at all :)

That is why we are in fact calling it a Rescue-Timer. We will give you all more details about that soon!

Sigurdur
