I did post a reply to the comments there as I noticed a common misconception - the comparison of a mechanical diving watch to a oil-filled quartz watch. The latter does not offer the redundancy of a mechanical timepiece (battery may run flat, battery performance suffers from very cold temperatures) and due to the internal counter-pressure oil-filled quartz watches are not built as solidly as mechanical watches resulting in a higher risk of damage. For a professional diver there is but one choice - a mechanical diving watch with a sturdy case.
